It’s divided people along geographical lines – online and in offices all over the city, including the Central Western Daily’s own office – as to where you go for your greasy, chippy feed.
People often show a preference for their local fish and chippery, dividing people in similar ways to the suburban football in Sydney or Melbourne, but there has to be one that’s the best.
WATCH: The Central Western Daily culinary team decide which fish and chips are the best.
There has to be.
So, as an excuse to eat a lot of fish and chips, we set out to find it, and we decided to try and video our findings to get back to you.

We’d like to take the opportunity to spread our love for all those across Orange who put blood, sweat and chicken salt into doing God’s own work – creating fish and chips
After conducting an extensive poll to find the top three fish and chips places in Orange – we only had so much of a budget to conduct the experiment – the public decided on Stan’s, King’s and Mackie’s as the top three places in town.
Stan’s Takeaway, but a 2.5 point margin over King’s, with Mackie’s finishing behind them in a respectable third.
As for the nitty-gritty as to why, you’ll have to watch the video to find out more.
However, we’d like to take the opportunity to spread our love for all those across Orange who put blood, sweat and chicken salt into doing God’s own work – creating fish and chips.
Limiting to three – and ultimately finding a winner – was no easy task, and to be honest, keep supporting your local fish and chippery. There’s no such thing as bad fish and chips.
