This year’s Orange Netball Association Toyota Cup grand final hero Milly Wilcox, along with Annalise Maier, Em Williams and Sophie Brisbane were all named in the 28-strong group, all of whom impressed enough to be kept in the state’s High Performance Pathway.
The Regional Talent Squad, along with its metropolitan equivalent, was named after the under-17 and under-19 NSW trials, and in a nutshell the aim of the program is to ensure the selected athletes don’t fall by the wayside and are still given the best chance to excel.
The regional squad, in particular, has been formed to give country-based players access to the best coaching possible, with a lot of the burgeoning stars rarely afforded the chance to work with strength and conditioning mentors – for example – without the program.
Bathurst’s Clancy Best and Teagan Germach were also named in the squad.
