Emergency services were called to Orange Aquatic Centre on Hill Street, after a four-year-old girl was pulled from the water unconscious about 3.30pm on Saturday, November 4, 2017.
The girl was pronounced deceased after being taken to Orange Health Service.
Central West Police District have formed Strike Force Tamboon to investigate the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death.
Crime Manager Detective Inspector Bruce Grassick said with the warmer months now here it was a timely reminder to always supervise children around water.
“Families are out and about at beaches, creeks, rivers etc, and we want everyone to have a good time, but are urging there be a responsible adult to look out for young children.”
Investigations are continuing.
