The total project is expected to cost $18.4 million, including $8.8 million from the state government, $3.4 million from the federal government and $6.2 million from the council.
Member for Calare Andrew Gee said the project would deliver a major transport connection for Orange.
“These new works will increase freight productivity and make it easier for our farmers to get their produce to market by providing an alternate and more direct route for heavy vehicles accessing the Leewood industrial area,” he said.

“Good, safe roads are the lifeblood of regional communities – it means local drivers have safer conditions and local businesses can operate more efficiently.”
Western NSW parliamentary secretary Rick Colless said the road would also help the mining sector.
“It will provide long-term benefits to local businesses,” he said.
Stage three from Elsham Avenue to the Mitchell Highway is awaiting state government funding before tenders can be called, while stage four from Anson Street to Pinnacle Road is waiting for federal funding.
The Ploughmans Lane section is still in planning.
