West Indies legend Courtney Walsh and Kiwi stalwart Chris Martin both had long and successful Test careers spearheading their respective sides’ attacks, but in cricketing circles both remain as well-known for their exploits – or lack thereof – with the bat.

Basically, for getting ducks, and plenty of them to boot.
Walsh finished his career with the most ducks in Test history, setting the bar high with 42 globes, while Martin wasn’t far behind by the time he retired having been dismissed without scoring 36 times.
Of course ducks aren’t restricted to the elite level, and since the inception of MyCricket there’s been plenty in Orange District Cricket Association’s grades, with a number of repeat offenders too.
But who is the ODCA’s Courtney Walsh?
With the entire top grade being washed out over the weekend, the Central Western Daily sports desk has decided to not just answer that question but also put together an entire team of the city’s most prevalent non-scorers.
Selected based on the available numbers, dating back to 2008-09, with no other criteria whatsoever, we’ve naturally dubbed this team The Mighty Ducks – quack, quack, quack, quack…
At the top of the list and therefore automatically the side’s captain is indeed the ODCA’s version of Walsh, and he comes in Waratahs’ Brendon Centofanti.
In 134 innings, in all grades combined, for the sky blues, Centofanti has been dismissed without scoring 35 times to top the list.
Not far behind with 33 ducks from 152 innings, is the side’s vice-captain in Centrals’ Mark Hayman.
CYMS’ Jono Savill (24 ducks from 158 innings) and Steve Blackwood (24 from 86) rank third and fourth respectively, they’re followed by Centrals duo Roshan Eiseman (21 from 79) and Anthony Salmon (21 from 85).
CYMS’ Matthew Culverson and Orange City’s Mick Corby have both tallied 20 ducks since the inception of MyCricket, from 74 and 139 innings respectively, with Waratahs’ Craig Mulligan ranking next with 19 ducks from 62 innings.
After that regular first graders become far more common through the rankings, with three filling the final spots on The Mighty Ducks’ roster.
Cavaliers’ Brad Wright and, coincidentally considering his namesake, Chris Martin both earn a spot having scored 18 ducks apiece, from 106 and 101 innings respectively.
Kinross’ Angus Cumming rounds out the top 12 and therefore this side, his number mirror Martin’s.
The students’ tweaker has tallied 18 ducks from 101 innings as well.
