In the men’s top grade Corn and Co and Death by a Quickie are deadlocked on 19 points with five wins and two losses, although the latter's differential is slightly better and they take the upper hand as a result – however, the latest results from Thursday evening weren’t available at time of print.
Appropriately, the two sides face-off in Thursday’s last round of 2018 in a blockbuster, top-of-the-table encounter which, based on the season so far, could well be a grand final preview.
They’ve played once already this season, a thrilling affair back in round four that ended in a 2-all draw.
The Loose Goose are three points further back in third, with The Greenhouse, Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies and The Helmets rounding the standings in fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
Handyman All Round Services top the table in the women’s top flight, led by the likes of Caitlin, Hailey and Rebecca Prestwidge, they’ve tasted defeat just once in the opening seven rounds, with last result against Lucy Warner and the Girls still to come in.
They lead David Reid Homes by a single point and, in another appropriate final round of the year, the top two women's sides will also do battle on Thursday night.
David Reid Homes won their only encounter of the year so far, a 5-4 victory back in early November.
The gap to third-placed Lucy Warner and the Girls is three points in the women’s top division, with Hawks, Ally Kaufman and the Girls and Try’s the Limit fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
There’s one distinct front-runner in COTA’s mixed top division though, in Handyman All Round Services.
With the Prestwidge sisters also leading the way in this side along with the likes of Angus Staniforth, Jack Cole and Keegan Harding, the outfit romped to the top of the ladder through seven rounds, remaining undefeated.
They enjoyed a seven-point buffer from second-placed Mango Magic thanks to that stunning record, which is thanks largely to their scintillating attacking play.
Handyman All Round Services continue to pile on touchdowns every week, just twice they’ve failed to score seven or more.
The Loose Goose sits third, another four points behind Mango Magic, with On The Bus three more further back in fourth.
The mixed, juniors and senior competitions’ last games of the year are on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
