The City of Orange Traffic Committee has resolved to add no stopping signs on the southern side of the NDR.
The zone would extend from the existing zone to the north Orange McDonald’s.
MAP: Where the signs will be installed …
Committee chairman Russell Turner said lenience was needed on the eastbound side of the road, outside Woolworths, because there was no truck stop on the NDR and there was space to pull off.
But he said trucks stopped on the westbound side presented a hazard.
“They park on the white line on the edge of the road and it’s not designed for that,” he said.
“It’s a safety factor.”
Cr Turner was particularly surprised with reports cars had been doing the same thing, saying there was plenty of parking in North Orange Shopping Centre and McDonald’s.
