Several groups which volunteer their time for all types of jobs at the hospital – from running the onsite cafe to advising the executive committee – were waited on by staff as their way of saying thanks.
Orange Health Service General Manager Catherine Nowlan said the many volunteers allow the hospital to provide the best possible care.
She said by joining the committees, advising the executive and putting in time on the wards, the volunteers kept the hospital connected with the community’s needs.
Among the kiosk volunteers in attendance was Evelyn Young, who said she had enjoyed preparing food at the hospital every Monday for the past 12 years.
“I enjoy the company of really good friends who look out for one another,” she said.
Orange mayor Reg Kidd and member for Orange Phil Donato attended the event to thank the volunteers.
