A CHAIRLIFT for Mount Canobolas will be investigated after Orange City Council supported the idea.
Councillor Sam Romano said there would be great views and a chairlift present an opportunity for a restaurant at the summit.
“I just think it would be a brilliant idea to add to the costings of the mountain bike trails,” he said.

The council will report back on seeking permission for the project, possible grants the project could leverage, Cabonne Council’s potential involvement and how to attract investors.
Councillor Joanne McRae said there were sensitivities around getting approval for the mountain bike trail centre and a chairlift might cloud state government decision making.
“If we get the go-ahead for the mountain biking, that’s the time to look at what we can value add,” she said.
“It may actually provide some confusion about what we have put forward.”
Councillor Jeff Whitton said there would be a lot of red tape, but commended the entrepreneurial spirit.
