Volunteers across the city were thanked by Orange City Council on Thursday. Both Karen Boyde and Louise Geaghan work extensively with the “huge cohort” of volunteers at council and Mrs Boyde said it was the best way they could give thanks to the broad cross-section from Meals on Wheels to Mentor Connections – who provide guidance to newly arrived migrants – and more. “We couldn’t provide the services we provide without volunteer support, and it’s amazing,” Mrs Boyde said. Mrs Geaghan said volunteers were thanked regularly, but “being Christmas and holiday season” they added another. “We just wanted to do something special,” she said. She added they were “always looking for new volunteers” and encouraged people to call council and get involved.
