And they will get the chance to sing them all again in public when the annual Carols by Candlelight event is held at the Northcourt, next to the Orange City Library on Saturday night.
A special guest appearance by Santa Claus at the performance is expected to entertain the children in the crowd.
And the Colour City Dance group will also be performing at the big event.
Music director of the event and the Orange Regional Conservatorium, Donna Riles, said the crowd should expect to hear plenty of traditional Christmas carols when singing starts from 7pm.
She said the carols chosen for the annual show changed occasionally but they liked to keep all the favourites.
“The carols that are sung are the best known ones. They have very tuneful melodies and they evoke the spirit of Christmas across all generations,” she said.
“We have kept some, we’ve changed a few this year.”
Carols organiser Rachel Robinson said she was hoping for a big crowd at the Orange City Council-run event.
As always the weather plays a big part in determining how many people come out to events in Orange.
“We usually get about 1500 people. So far no rain has been predicted,” she said.
The event starts at 5.30pm with children’s activities.
“We’ll have stallholders, face painting, a merry go-round and a jumping castle from 5.30 to 7,” she said.

You can buy food from the stalls and the Canobolas Lions Club or bring your own food and relax on your picnic rug as the evening unfolds.
Entry to the event is free but you can buy candles and glowsticks on the night.
This year’s classic carols will be performed by the Orange Regional Conservatorium, Orange Symphony Orchestra, the Canobolas Highland Pipe Band and the City of Orange Brass Band.
James Sheahan Catholic High School Year 7 student Sophia Duncan will also perform a song.
