In between, the annual Santa’s arrival parade thrilled the young and old in the crowd as bagpipes heralded the start of the festive season.
Maddelyn Braimbridge was at the head of the parade, walking hand in hand with Santa and Mrs Claus around the centre before having the first meeting and photo with Santa for the year.
She said she was happy to have walked around the centre with father Christmas, and her favourite part was “sitting on Santa’s lap”.
Maddelyn hoped she’d been good this year, and said she wanted a brand new teddy bear for Christmas – “a big one”.
City of Orange Brass Band provided Christmas Carols, and a huge line snaked around the centre waiting for a chance to have a photo and a chat to Santa.
Santa will be available at Orange City Centre for photos and a visit from 10am-12 noon and 1pm to 3pm from December 2 to December 14, and 9am to 12 noon and 1pm to 4pm until December 23.
He will also be available on Christmas Eve from 9am to 12 noon and 1pm to 3pm, with bookings for Sensitive Santa for children with special needs available on December 3 and 4.
