Even the tales of unrequited love received from a faraway land via a very poorly written email make a good read.

This week the police staged a forum to warn people about how prevalent scamming is within our community and just how many people are still being ripped off.

This week I too become a scam victim.

I opened my credit card statement to see someone had used my details to book themselves a very expensive flight to Germany.

Despite me not having handed over my credit card details to a strange caller and not having recently purchased anything online I was still scammed.

While the process of recovering my cash hasn’t been as straightforward as I would have liked, I realised just how vulnerable I felt.

With dating and romance scams, phony investment schemes, unexpected prize and lottery scams and being conned into paying fake Australian Tax Office debts by buying iTunes cards all popular scamming methods at the moment any attempts to crack down on this sort of crime has my heartfelt support.
