Nicholas Ross Wilson, 23, and Alexander Carl Wilson, 22, both of Tilga Street, Canowindra, were swearing at five security officers escorting them down the street when they were confronted by two other men and a brawl started near the intersection on McNamara Street.

The brothers were being led away from the hotel after Nicholas Wilson was told to leave the Hotel Orange due to intoxication and his involvement in an altercation on the dance floor but continued to try to re-enter the hotel. 

During the affray, Alexander Wilson was knocked unconscious for about a minute early into the fight after tripping and falling on his back and being kicked in the head by Jed Acheson.

Acheson was previously given a 19-month sentence with 10 months without parole.

According to police, later on Acheson also ran at him from behind and punched Alexander Wilson in the back of the head causing him to fall face first onto the ground.

Nicholas Wilson was knocked unconscious for about four minutes towards the end of the fight after being punched in the face by John Ney, who was previously given an 18-month sentence with nine months without parole.

He fell to the ground from the punch and was then kicked by Acheson.   

Magistrate David Day sentenced the brothers and said both were in the same position and said Nicholas Wilson was a retained fire fighter so was a useful person to the community and Alexander Wilson also works.

Mr Day said both men expressed genuine remorse and despite the sentences given to the other men in the fight, not many people go to jail for affray and the brothers were considered to be of low risk of reoffending.  

The Wilsons were each given a supervised two-year community corrections order with 100 hours of community service.

Nichols Wilson was also fined $220 for attempting to re-enter the hotel after being turned out.
