John James Doyle, 48, of Garema Road, smashed a window and stole the jewellery from the bedroom of the locked house between January 3 and 16 when the owners were away but was caught after his fingerprint was found on a perfume bottle.
On September 28, he was arrested after stealing two sausage rolls valued at $6 from the open deli section at the Coles supermarket.
While in the supermarket he was confronted by an employee who had previously banned him from the store Doyle said “f***-off d***head get out of my way”.
He has a bad record in general, he has a bad record for stealing things or being unlawfully in possession of things.

The employee grabbed at the sausage rolls when Doyle left without paying and when he attempted to pull them out of his hand Doyle said “don’t you f***ing touch me or I’ll bash you,” then punched him in the face and the employee grabbed Doyle in defence and punched him back, knocking him to the ground.
Doyle appeared before magistrate David Day in Orange Local Court on Wednesday and has been in custody since September 28.
“Someone doing their job confronts a shop stealer and cops a punch, it’s not very nice,” Mr Day said.
“He has a bad record in general, he has a bad record for stealing things or being unlawfully in possession of things.”
Solicitor Ben Tonkin said his client had a “reasonable record” but it was the first time he had been back in jail since 2012 and had success after attending drug rehabilitation but was struggling with grief after his son was killed in a car crash in 2016.

“It seems he went back to [using] meth and that’s created a number of different problems in his life,” Mr Tonkin said.
For the break and enter, Doyle was given a two-year jail sentence with an 18-month non-parole period dating from September 29, 2018, to March, 28, 2020.
“He’s a criminal, he a recidivist,” Mr Day said.
“He might have a drug habit but he’s not allowed to feed the drug habit by breaking into people’s houses and stealing their property.”
For separate offenses of intimidating the Coles employee and for assaulting the employee he was given two concurrent 12-month jail sentences with nine-month non-parole periods that will finish on June 28, 2020.
For stealing the sausage rolls he was given a 12-month supervised community correction order to start when he’s released from custody.
