After reading negative articles and social media posts about thefts and antisocial behaviour it can be easy to assume that society has gone down hill and everyone is out to help themselves.
However, a resident recently discovered first-hand that community spirit and good Samaritans still exist.
While showing interstate visitors around the region, her phone must have fallen from her handbag and wasn’t missed until she went to set an alarm when she went to bed that night.
Thinking it had been mixed up with her visitor’s belongings she wasn’t expecting to receive a call from the Millthorpe Corner Store and Cafe the next morning with news the mobile had been handed in and they’d seen her missed calls on the display.
The incident occurred less than a week after the Orange resident visited family in Melbourne where she heard various cousins tell stories about losing phones and wallets but finding them propped against light poles or one man being handed his wallet by strangers dining nearby, hours after it had fallen from his pocket on a busy street.
