That’s the reminder coming from Orange City Council staff after the offer of several rolls of free turf really did turn out to be too good to be true.
“Just remember to treat what you see on Facebook with a grain of salt”.
Apparently the free turf advertised on a community Facebook page recently was taken from a work site in North Orange.
The turf was temporarily removed from Platinum Drive so a footpath could be constructed.
The turf was to be put back in, next to the footpath, in an effort to ensure our streets continue to look their best.
As Council’s public relations team told us: “Just remember to treat what you see on Facebook with a grain of salt”.
The Facebook page that hosted the post offering the “free” turf rolls was inundated with people keen to take advantage of the giveaway.
Many expressed their disappointment at not being able to pick up the turf quick enough.
