The sweet Spring fruit will be ripe for the picking when Huntley Berry Farm opens its gates for their annual family fun day on Saturday.

Manager Gianni Belmonte said the day will be “heaps of fun” with tractor rides, a jumping castle and market stalls.

“It’s a family atmosphere, a relaxed and easy going day to spend with friends,” he said.

The 15 men and women who work at the OCTEC-owned Australian Disability Enterprise, will run all the stalls and rides.

“This gets our guys ready for the pop up shops in Orange and Bathurst later in the year,” Mr Belmonte said.

Mr Belmonte said the Huntley Berry Farm Family Fun Day is a reminder to employees of what their retail jobs require, prior to setting up at Orange Central Square Shopping Centre and Stockland Bathurst Shopping Centre for the month of December.

Like the Christmas pop-ups, Saturday’s fun day will give attendees the chance to purchase the produce grown and made on the farm.

The Huntley employees will sell jam, honey and olive oils, while community market stalls will offer homewares which includes soaps and candles.

The farm’s cafe will be open to give hungry pickers the chance to fill up on pancakes, ice creams and other delicious goods and there’ll also be a sausage sizzle.

With up to 4000 people attending in previous years, there’s a good chance local musician Oliver Statham will get a few young ones up to dance when he provides live entertainment from 11-1pm.

Children will be able to meet the farm animals and get their hands dirty in the fruit and vegetable gardens.

The family fun day will run from 9am-3pm at the Huntley Rd farm – entry is a gold coin donation.
