Blake Weymouth produced a sublime, flawless dig on Saturday afternoon to notch his maiden first grade ton and put his Orange City side in a formidable position after the opening day of their Orange District Cricket Association round five clash with CYMS.

Smashing 12 fours at Wade Park, the 15-year-old carried his bat through all of the day’s 83 overs to finish unbeaten on 125 at stumps, his Warriors finishing 6-306 at stumps.
Although it remains unclear whether he’ll declare before play on day two or not, Orange City captain Ed Morrish said he couldn’t be prouder of his young opener.
“Blakey just batted beautifully, it was flawless. There’s not really much else I can say about it,” Morrish, who added 116 for the fifth wicket with Weymouth, said.
“It was great to see, he’s always had plenty of potential and he’s really hitting his straps at the moment. The boys loved it, it just a really, really good innings.
“We’re in a good position too, obviously. Considering we’ve had our issues with the bat at times over the last couple of seasons, it’s encouraging we’ve been able to post big totals in our last couple of games, regardless of results.”
Morrish was Orange City’s next best with the bat on Saturday, notching his second half-ton of the season by belting a quick-fire, boundary-laden 69 from the middle order.
He smashed 13 fours and one maximum in the dig, which took care of 58 of those runs.
Lachie Coyte (42) also contributed in a big way, he and Weymouth consolidated with a 77-run second wicket stand after the Warriors lost Craig Rogan (5) early.
All of CYMS’ bowlers toiled hard, with Ed Wright (4-86) proving the most threatening in a long day in the field.
If Morrish elects to bat on into day two Weymouth will resume with Darren Barrett, the latter smashed an unbeaten 36 not out.
Incredibly Weymouth backed that ton up with another on Sunday, scoring 113 in Mitchell Cricket Council’s Western Zone Inter-Council Under-16 clash with Macquarie.
The competition-leading Cavaliers are in an equally as strong position, if not a stronger one, against Kinross.
Matt Corben (74), Ryan Kurtz (55) and Bailey Ferguson (51) all continued their good form by notching half-tons as the maroons worked their way to 7-259 before Corben declared, wanting a crack at the students in the dying stages of the day.
The decision proved a masterstroke as Josh Doherty (3-17) and Mitch Black (2-16) ripped through the students’ top order at Kinross Main Oval, leaving the hosts in an almost-unwinnable position at 6-34 at stumps.
Only Max Powell (14) made it to double figures on day one, with Charlie Greer (5 not out) and Stu Crisp (1 not out) the unbeaten bats charged with mounting an unlikely comeback on day two.
