Pharmacist Jamil Khalfan said the impact on men who had prostates removed was significant, with people going from not knowing there was something wrong to having surgery in a matter of weeks.
“It’s a quick process, you get diagnosed, it’s in about 2-4 weeks you’ve been operated on and come out with these issues,” he said.
Issues Mr Khalfan sees range from anything from incontinence to erectile dysfunction, which can then lead to mental health issues.

“Guys who have gone through a prostatectomy, 50 per cent of guys who have it have issues with mental health because it’s part of their manhood,” he said.
He said it was part of a focus to help fill the gap between a GP and a traditional pharmacy while also working with other specialists.
Mr Khalfan and fellow pharmacist Paul Jones are taking part in Movember to raise money and awareness for men’s health, and the pharmacy will also host a morning tea later this month.
