One of the world’s esteemed cello soloists, David Pereira will collaborate with the orchestra for a single show at the Orange Civic Theatre on Saturday night.
Mr Pereira will lead the audience through repertoire for solo cello and string orchestra – from the baroque to uniquely Australian compositions.
Kicking off at 8pm, the concert will feature music from well-known international composers including VIvaldi, Haydn, Carl Vine, David Popper and Benjamin Britten.
Australian born, Mr Pereira has led a celebrated career as a soloist, composer, improviser, pedagogue, author and recording artist, both here and overseas.
He has won numerous awards, including the Sounds Australia National Award for the Best Performance of an Australian Composition.
Colour City Chamber violinist Andrew Baker will lead the orchestral performance.
He said during the classical concert, David will speak to the audience about his music and experience performing.
“So the atmosphere will be intimate, friendly and informative, but the music dazzling,” he said.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for the orchestra to work with and learn from the skills and experiences of a world class soloist, which helps us grow in confidence and perform at a higher standard.”
