After following the Kia through several streets, it stopped in the driveway of a Noreen Place property.
Police stopped Stanley for a random breath test and he tested positive.
But while police waited for a caged vehicle to take Stanley back to the station for the follow-up test, Stanley asked his mates for a beer and then some water, complaining of thirst.
After police tipped a glass of water out and took a bottle from him, Stanley yelled at them not to touch him as they tried to guide him to the caged vehicle, and hit their arms away.

At the station, he registered a blood alcohol reading of 0.083, saying he drank four long necks of full-strength beer between 6pm and 1am.
His licence had expired on May 4 and he also handed over 0.7 grams of cannabis.
Solicitor Josh Piggott said his client had lost his father as a young child and witnessed his mother become a domestic violence victim, but realised his behaviour was unacceptable.
“He demonstrated his remorse by entering a plea of guilty at the first opportunity and he has a good relationship with police,” he said.
Magistrate David Day fined him and also handed down a 12-month community corrections order, requiring him to complete the traffic offenders program within six months.
