The students suffered an eight-wicket loss to perennial heavyweights Lithgow in their competition-opener last month, but plenty’s changed for them since then.
For one, Angus Cumming has returned from England and is back in a baggy two-blue cap but just as importantly the side will be brimming with confidence after picking up its maiden win of the Orange District Cricket Association summer last weekend.
They also won’t be short of match practice, having headed to Sydney for the second round of the Douglas Shield against Moriah College on Tuesday.
“We probably won’t even train this week, having so much cricket on,” Kinross player-coach Ben Ronald, who naturally doesn't play in the school-based Douglas Shield competition, said.
“It was good to get that first win (last weekend) and we won’t be short of match practice.”
St Pat’s Old Boys look to present a formidable challenge for the students, having hammered Centrals by 78 runs in their first game after rolling the red and blacks for just 33.
The Saints didn’t have it all their own way in that game though, they were forced to fight back from being 3-7 to post their 6-111.
Wednesday’s clash kicks off at 6.30pm at Wade Park, the competition continues with Friday night’s clash between CYMS and Centennials.
