The original version of a song promoting Orange entitled ‘We’re on the Move’, first released about half a century ago, has appeared on YouTube.
The four-minute tune, which features vocals by Adrian Paine, was, according to the description on the original vinyl, “written, arranged and produced by Slogget Clarke for Midwest Marketing on behalf of Orange Chamber of Commerce and Industry”.

The lyrics start with the less-than-humble statement that “everything you need is here in Orange, other towns would like to be like us”.
Among the song’s other claims are that “we don’t have pollution here in Orange” and that the city’s sportsmen (not women?) are among the finest in the country.
What was there to do in our fair city all those years ago? Plenty, apparently: “we’ve got music, we’ve got theatres, we’ve got restaurants, we’ve got sports grounds”.
Lake Canobolas and cherries were also given prominent mentions.
