At time of print Conran was two over after 12 holes, but was still well behind leader Jarryd Felton, who was six under at the end of his first round at Twin Peaks Golf and Country Club in Penrith.
Aaron Pike and six other golfers were tied just a stroke behind Felton by deadline, while Jediah Morgan and Blake Collyer are the best of the amateurs on four under.
Conran won an invite to the tour after winning the Bathurst Open last month, and also cleaned up at the Canowindra Open on November 4, winning over Robert Payne by nine shots.
It’s the second time Conran has been to the NSW Open after he was invited to compete in 2015.
