Owner Nick Gray said he was motivated to grow his mo and support the The Movember Foundation charity after his father Peter Gray was diagnosed with prostate cancer five years ago.

“My father went through radiation therapy – this is something boys can do to talk about men’s health,” he said.

Started over a beer by two Melbourne boys, Movember has grown into a global movement taken on by more than five million men and women in 20 countries.

With guys encouraged to ditch their shaver to encourage donations, the month long initiative has raised funds for more than 1200 men’s health organisations since it started in 2003, with a particular focus on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.

With four of the gym trainers sporting the beginnings of dirty mos this week, Mr Gray admits he’s counting down the days until December.

"It’s annoying already,” he said.

The public can support the trainer’s facial hair fund by donation to the collection boxes in the gym or searching Fitness Perfection on the Movember Australia website.
