Kiel John Joseph Sharkey, 32, of Markham Avenue, was charged with mid-range drink driving after failing the breath test at Boorowa on July 6.
Sharkey was driving a Toyota Corolla when police saw him speed towards them at 4.27pm on the Lachlan Valley Way and used a radar to detect his speed.
After he was determined to be travelling at 150km/h police made a u-turn and stopped him for a breath test.
In my opinion Lachlan Valley Way would not be safe at 110km/h.
- Magistrate David Day
Although he had no red p-plates attached to his car he was found to be a provisional licence holder with a 90km/h maximum speed limit, and said he had consumed alcohol five minutes earlier while he was driving.
After waiting a few minutes he was breath tested and was taken to Boorowa Police Station for a breath analysis where he returned a mid-range reading of 0.127.
Sharkey told police he had been drinking in the morning and had four alcoholic drinks before leaving Orange and was travelling to the south coast to visit friends.
He appeared in Orange Local Court on Monday where he was convicted and given a 12-month conditional release order with supervision, that could include drug and alcohol testing, and his drivers licence was disqualified for four months for the mid-range drink driving charge.

Magistrate David Day said the disqualification took into account a driving suspension he was given at the time of the offence due to the excessive speed.
The facts for sentencing were quite disturbing, Mr Day said.
In my opinion Lachlan Valley Way would not be safe at 110km/h.
He was also previously fined by police for speeding, not displaying his p-plates and failing to notify of a change of address.
Solicitor Peter Ringbauer said Sharkey had long-standing health issues, no longer had issues with cannabis but still had a problem with alcohol, and has completed the Traffic Offenders Intervention Program.
*Due to an error on the court record Sharkey was not officially sentenced so he was sentenced in Orange Local Court on Monday, July 1.
Magistrate David Day gave him an 18-month supervised community correction order, that also had conditions that he abstain from drugs and alcohol, and he disqualified Sharkey's driver's licence for three months and placed him on a 12-month interlock order.
