How long have you lived in Orange? Almost nearly 15 years.
What are your hobbies? Anything motorcycle related.
What did you want to be when you were young? An archaeologist. I am interested in history and literature.
Where do you work and for how long? I work for myself at Blue Shed Engineering. For about 25 years.
What is your job title? Owner of the business.
What is your job description? I’m a fabricator, designer and installer, architectural. It is very broad, general engineering.
What other jobs have you had? I was in the navy for six years when I was young. That’s where I got my trade.
What training have you done? I went to art school in Sydney for three years. Fine art, majoring in sculpture.
Why did you choose this job? I love working for myself and its creative, it is problem solving and it’s fun. I don’t want to stop doing it.
What is the best thing about your job? The diversity I suppose. Every project has its own challenge.
What is the worst thing about your job? It’s the lack of camaraderie you get in a big workplace when you’ve got people working there. It’s a little isolated.
Where do you see yourself in five years? I expect I will be doing the same.
What advice would you give for anyone considering this job as a career? If you want to do it just keeping knocking on doors and never give up. Don’t take ‘no’ for an answer.
