A woman who appeared in Orange Local Court for shoplifting was also sent to jail for assaulting a woman during a violent brawl.

Deleah Simpson, 29, of Middle Street, Cowra, was convicted and given a nine-month conditional release order for stealing a stealing a $14 SD card with adapter from Woolworths in Orange.
Simpson also received an identical sentence for stealing a $15 handbag and pink purse valued at $4 from Kmart in Orange on August 8.
The items were found when she was searched by police who stopped a car she was travelling in later that day.
It seems Deleah has pulled the victims hair and punched her a number of times in the head.

However, the control orders will only come into affect one she’s released from jail on February 3 next year after she was given a 12-month custodial sentence with six-month non-parole period, and she will be required to undergo alcohol rehabilitation for the assault that occurred at Wagga Wagga.
Simpson’s solicitor Ben Tonkin said his client’s conduct was “of a lesser conduct than the co-accused” and had been in custody since August 4.
“It seems Deleah has pulled the victims hair and punched her a number of times in the head,” Mr Tonkin said.
“There were two warring families, she joined the affray to support her cousin who was one of the provocateurs in the fight.
“When the victim joined the melee Ms Simpson took her actions as joining in.”
According to police facts a fight started between members of two families at Tolland, a suburb of Wagga Wagga, on November 25, 2017, and the victim stepped in to pull her brother out of the melee.
However, she was grabbed by her hair and Simpson punched her in the face a number of times.
Police said the victim tried to break free but a co-accused smashed a coffee cup over her head causing two deep cuts on the side of her face and pieces of the mug to be embedded in the wounds.
The victim’was taken to hospital and Simpson was arrested for her role in the assault and taken to Wagga Wagga police station.
Magistrate David Day said the offending was aggravated by Simpson’s “very bad record for violence”.
“She has insight and she knows what she did,” Mr Day said.
He also gave Simpson a 12-month community corrections order for failing to appear in court and an 18-month community corrections order with supervision for failing to appear in Cowra Local Court.
