Magistrate David Day told a man that he was lucky a girl who he shoved and knocked over wasn’t injured or he would have gone to jail for the assault.
Jarrod Thomas Pulbrook, 20, of Tucker Street, shoved the 17-year-old over in the Orange City Centre on June 1 and was given a two-year community corrections order when he appeared in Orange Local Court for sentencing.
According to police, the victim was in Big W with friends at 10.30am when Pulbrook approached and started to swear at them.
He offered to fight one of the males in the group then ran at the girl and knocked her down with a shove.
The accused and a friend of the victim then wrestled and one of his female friends started to wrestle the victim.
The assault was captured on CCTV and when police arrived Pulbrook reported being short of breath so an ambulance was called to take him to Orange hospital.
Mr Day said Pulbrook had been jailed for assault before and had just finished a parole period.
