Tourism events bring people in numbers that we have trouble catering for.
A large amount of money for bookings and accommodation leaves Orange in booking and franchise fees to parent companies.
With new and extended hospitals and government departments coming online in the near future it is now time we have supermarkets and shops ready to serve the staff before they find elsewhere to shop.
It is time Orange City Council started putting their energies in encouraging new firms to set up in Orange instead of thinking up new festivals, as recently suggested by councillor Kevin Duffy.

The present shopping services are mainly tied to a few major companies.
Council should now be looking at expanding that base, which may mean offering some enticements to them in setting up.
