Riding for the Disabled Orange’s committee is preparing for a Melbourne Cup Day event, which will be held the day after the race that stops the nation.
Among the day’s events will be four sessions of rides – 9.30am, 10.30am 11.30am and 1pm – aboard horses named in honour of previous Melbourne Cup winners.
There will be fashions on the field, with awards for best hat, best women's fashion and best men's fashion, while member for Orange Philip Donato will present rosettes to riders.
Organisers are also planning a special celebration at 1pm to recognise the second place achieved by the group’s 2017 Musical Ride entry.
The event is open to the public, who are invited to dress in their finest ‘day at the races’ attire at the Clifton Grove centre.
Each Wednesday, 45 children are led on horses, with benefits ranging from improved mood, balance and muscle development, as well as learning through riding-based educational activities.
