Orange will be one of six NSW cities to gain the service, also including Bathurst, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Tamworth and Wagga Wagga.
Uber’s head of cities across Australia and New Zealand, Natalie Malligan, said the app provided a safe and affordable option to get around.
“This also presents a great opportunity for members of the community who want to sign up to earn some extra money, while maintaining flexibility,” she said.
“With Uber, you can choose to drive when it suits you, and we hope this will be a welcome option for many.”
Ms Malligan expected the app to be busiest on weekends and during major events and cities were chosen based on where demand was high, and where ridesharing could complement existing transport options.
