A FREE barbecue and $2000 in giveaways are among the drawcards at Friday’s inaugural ‘Chill’n and Grill’n’ event in Molong.

Molong Central School and Molong Baptist Church have joined forces for the event, which will take place between 4pm-6pm on the sports oval in the school grounds.
In addition to the $2000 worth of vouchers to local schools to be won, there will also be jumping castles and games for children.
According to Wayne Spencer, pastor at Molong Baptist Church, the event is aimed at helping the region’s drought-affected farmers and their families “switch off from the pressure for a little while”.

“The drought has had a significant impact throughout our region and has resulted in many people experiencing anxiety and stress,” he said.
“We wanted to do make a contribution at the grass roots level.”
Michelle Barrett, principal of Molong Central School, said her staff and students were ”proud to support this initiative”.
“I have seen firsthand the impact the drought has had on families at our school,” she said.
“I am also very proud that several of our year 11 business studies students have donated profits from the businesses they established this year to assist catering for this event.”
Epping Baptist Church in Sydney is providing funding and volunteers as a way of showing support to regional communities impacted by the drought.
