Defending just 98, Kinross showed they had the bowling firepower but just didn’t have enough runs to play with a Orange City passed their total just four wickets down.
However, Cumming stepped up to stop them from being blown out of the water, taking 7-27 from 15 overs and then hitting an unbeaten 26 when Kinross were sent in to bat afterwards.
The students made 2-98 from 29 overs before the end of play, where City claimed first-innings points.
Centrals have continued their blistering start to second grade in style after a first-innings victory over CYMS.
After scoring 207 in their first innings last week, Centrals were able to roll CYMS for 129 as all six bowlers picked up wickets for the warriors, with Roshan Eiseman the pick of the bowlers with 3-41 from 14 overs.
They sent CYMS in again to look to go for an outright victory, but were denied as captain Matt Baker hit an unbeaten 80 to steer his side to 5-135 before stumps were called.
Baker played virtually a lone hand in keeping CYMS afloat, with Harry West the only other batter to enter double digits as Centrals used eight bowlers.
Meanwhile, Waratahs recorded a first-innings win over Cavaliers despite a six-wicket haul to Ashok Karupiah in the Tah’s second innings.
In third grade, Orange City proved too strong for Centrals to remain locked into equal first on the ladder alongside CYMS.
CYMS recorded a crushing 170-run win over Gladstone Cricket Club, scoring 7-247 and holding the Gladdy to just 77 in reply, cleaning them up in 16 overs.
Luke Bingham and Rory Jaye hit half-centuries to guide Spring Hill to a five-wicket win over Cavaliers while Waratahs easy defeated Kinross.
