Owner Guy Hampton said the cafe and wholefoods grocer parts of the business had become increasingly “squished” at the McNamara Street store, so when the Christian bookshop next door moved to the Salvation Army store, he and wife Ellie seized the opportunity.
The Grocer and Co Organics has just completed its third week at the extra premises, with the cafe to be renamed the Wholefood Eatery and remain at the original location.
Mr Hampton said lunch items had grown in popularity
“People are realising how food is produced and we can’t eat poorly and expect the most out of our bodies,” he said.
Car wash sale
A CAR wash approved for Molong Road as part of a wider service station redevelopment will be subdivided and sold, with expressions of interest sought.
Agent Gary Blowes said 1400 square metres of land, currently home to Stojanovic Automotive, was DA approved for a car wash, but a buyer could put the land to another commercial use if they preferred.
“It’s by expressions [of interest] but somewhere around $750,000 would buy it,” he said.
Mr Blowes said an operator had been lined up to operate the car wash at the time of the approval, but the deal did not proceed and the owner decided to subdivide.
Two additional shopfronts adjoining the soon-to-be-built 7-Eleven are also on the market for lease.
Card extension
SHOPPERS who have not year spent their Shop Orange gift cards should either spend it or have it renewed by Wednesday.
Recent legislation changes mean all gift cards bought in Australia should have a three-year expiry, however Orange City Council has taken the extra step to give anyone who has a card, no matter when it was purchased, the chance to extend the card’s life by three years.
Mayor Reg Kidd said the Shop Orange gift cards were a great idea for a gift supporting Orange’s economy.
Card holders must call 6393 8211 or spend the money before October 31.
