Parliamentary Secretary for Western NSW Rick Colless said the $43 million Guanna Hill project was vital to transport, commuters and tourism.
“The project involved realigning seven kilometres of the highway between Orange and Molong and included a new eastbound overtaking lane to improve safety and travel times,” he said.
“The project will significantly improve road safety and reduce travel times for 3000 motorists and freight trucks daily.”
Mr Colless said the highway was critical for the movement of thousands of head of livestock to the Dubbo Regional Livestock Markets, from farms east of Molong.
“It is also a key project in delivering an upgraded Sydney to Dubbo corridor, which will better link the movement of goods from the east to supply towns, farms and local businesses in the west,” he said.
