From 5:30pm the public is invited to join a walk carrying one of three coloured lanterns; gold to remember someone, white for their own journey, or blue to show they care.
Event organiser, Olivia West said she hopes the community will come together to enjoy a warm evening lighting up the night and raising money for leukemia.
“We have a lovely family night planned with performances by Stepping Out Dance, Central West Gymnastics and other performers,” she said.
Stall holders will provide food and there will be a jumping castle and face painting for children.
Orange will join cities and towns across the country to host Light the Night events, with an aim to raise $2 million to fund blood cancer research and support for families affected by the disease.
Leukaemia Foundation CEO Bill Petch said he’s looking forward to seeing a strong show of support for people affected by blood cancer.
“Every one of us who participate and raises money for Light the Night will help light the way for those living with blood cancer,” Mr Petch.
“Together we will be there to provide the support and services they need to beat their blood cancer.”
Orange Light the Night has pledged to raise $10,000 through fundraising ahead of the event and donations on Friday.
