The 22 students will attend the Invictus Games Sydney 2018 as part of a program the school runs for its pupils who excel at sport.
The Invictus Games is an international multi-sport event in which wounded, injured or sick armed services personnel and their associated veterans take part in sports including wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, and indoor rowing.

The year 7-11 students will travel to Sydney’s Olympic Park to watch the basketball, as well as attend an ‘Engineers Without Boarders’ prosthetic workshop.
The students were given the opportunity to attend as part of the Canobolas High Performance Athletes’ Program Elite Sporting Experience, which exposes students to high performing athletes and competitions.
Teacher Michelle Somers said the program is about empowering the young athletes to go further.
“They get to interact with other students with similar interests and abilities as them, it helps them engage and stay interested in school,” she said.
The program received a grant from the Invictus Games organisers to help reduce the costs associated with heading to the games.
The competition for servicemen and women will kick off on Friday.
