The final weekend of Orange Wine Festival has crept up quickly, but there are still a heap of ways to over indulge before the celebration comes to a close on Sunday.
Here’s five ...
1) Do Friday night dinner al fresco-style at the night market
Orange Wine Festival Night Market returns to Robertson Park this Friday and with it comes ample opportunity to sample the region’s goods.
More than 20 food stalls will keep you fed, 27 wineries will keep you hydrated and live-music plus children’s activities will keep you entertained.
With communal tables and plenty of green grass to lay down a picnic rug, bring an empty belly, your mates and a gold coin donation to get you through the gates.
Market runs from 5:30-8:30pm.
2) Do brunch right on Saturday with a bottle of bubbly at Tonic
Get Saturday off to the best start possible with brunch and bubbly at Tonic Restaurant in Millthorpe.
The award-winning restaurant on the Corner of Pym and Victoria Street will open earlier than usual for a festival breakfast with sparkling wine.
For $45 you’ll have yourself a plate and a glass and the momentum you’ll need to get through two days of festivities.
3) Kick your heels together at the Strawhouse Shindig
Nothing says regional city festival like a shindig in a town hall.
On Saturday night Strawhouse Wines are having a party at Nashdale Hall which means their wines and dinner by Josie Chapman from the Old Convent.
Kyle Manning’s band ‘The Romans’ will bring the musical goods.
Doors open at 6:30pm. Dancing starts at 6:32pm.
Tickets are $130.
4) Take a culinary trip down memory lane
If you are of a certain vintage, 1998 meant Roll-Ups and Dunkaroos, but it’s probable safe to say Highland Heritage Estate Restaurant won’t serve up lunch box treats in its Back In Time lunch.
The Mitchell Highway winery wants to take you back 20 years to sample the goods that made their menus special two decades ago.
While packets of sugary treats aren’t guaranteed, wine and great views are a sure thing.
Lunch is $70 per person – booking are essential.
5) Learn to bake sourdough with Habitat Vineyard
Knead to know how to spend your Sunday? Learn to bake bread at a two-hour Introduction to Sourdough workshop.
This intimate workshop will equip budding bakers with all the skills they need to create something to melt their cheese on.
It runs from 10am-12pm, be quick though because class sizes are small.
