I’ve been blessed so far, let’s hope it stays that way,
- Lindsay Punch
She said her experience of putting together dance productions have enabled her to work with the show’s choreographer, her daughter Jamie Kay, to get the big dance numbers right.
“Teaching dance has given me a keen eye to observe and to know how to work with performers to get the right finished product,” she said.
With 80 people auditioning, Mrs Punch said she was lucky to have suitable talent to fill the 55 roles to bring the Disney classic to life.
Without wanting to give too much away, The Little Mermaid director said they are doing things a little differently to past productions.
“It’s not just a kids show it’s suitable for everyone,” she said. “Expect lots of colour, big ensembles and great leads with big voices.”
Despite having sea creatures creeping into aspects of her home life and work life at the moment, Mrs Punch said it’s been “smooth sailing” to date.
“I’ve been blessed so far, let’s hope it stays that way,” she said.
Tickets are available online through Ticketek or at the theatre’s box office.
