Their warm weather recitals in Cook Park will commence this week with young and old brandishing their instruments for a performance in the rotunda at 1pm.
It’s a pleasant way to enjoy the magnificence of Cook Park and enjoy some good live music,
- John Moss
For over 30 years the instrumentalists have put on the free shows for the city’s music fans and passers-by.
Player John Moss said in recent years the band has received strong support for the recitals when the sun shines.
“It’s a pleasant way to enjoy the magnificence of Cook Park and enjoy some good live music,” he said.
The band has been meeting once a week over winter to get ready for their spring and summer shows, with some of its young members graduating to the senior band in time for Sunday’s performance.
Mr Moss said the one-hour performance this week would include a wide variety of sounds from traditional marching music to movie theatre themes, sacred pieces and a band favourite called ‘Classical Rock On’, which is a selection of famous classical pieces.
