There’s also a host of things to see and do either for free, or for a gold coin donation.
Here’s my top 5 ...
1) Get a bit fancy at the Corner Store Gallery opening
Not technically within the 10 days of Orange Wine Festival – but fun and free nonetheless – the Corner Store Gallery will host an opening for textile designer Sally Campbell on Thursday.
From 6pm-8pm, the public is invited to the Summer Street gallery to enjoy a glass of wine, some nibbles and to meet the artist.
The set and costume designer’s quilts, throws, cushions, tableware, towels and scarves will be available for your perusing (and purchasing) pleasure from October 9-14.
2) Master pasta at market for no dough
Because there's nothing quite like a big bowl of fresh, Italian-style pasta with a good bottle of red, this is the chance to learn how to make it – or send the kids to learn instead.
Top Sydney chefs Enrico Tomelleri and Enrico Sgarbossa will demonstrate what they do best during a hands-on workshop for both young and old foodies at the Orange Farmers Market on Saturday.
In town to host a long lunch at Soiree, the pizza/pasta pros want to teach you the goods and raise a little money for drought relief at the same time.
The chefs from 10 William Street and Al Taglio Pizzeria will be sharing their Italian secrets for free at Northcourt from 9.30-11am.
3) Pack the car, pack the kids, party in a small hall
With holidays ending this week Saturday’s Festival In A Small Hall might be one last family outing before the littlies are shipped off back to school.
From 11am on Saturday, Nashdale Hall will throw open its doors for the cost of a gold coin for an afternoon of wood-fired pizza, booze and kids activities.
Singers Andy Nelson and Liv Mirrington will provide some soulful tunes from 1pm, while Pioneer Brewing Co and Small Acres Cyder will serve the goods until 5:30pm.
A jumping castle, face-painting, a jenga blocks game and beer-flavoured gelato should keep everyone entertained.
4) Have a barbie or picnic with Robbie Mortimer music
If the family is still feeling sprightly after their beer-flavoured gelato there’s an option to pop out to Mortimer’s Wines on Sunday for an afternoon picnic.
Pack your own lunch or buy a sausage from the Royal Fire Service van at the Burrendong Way winery from 11am-5pm.
Wine and beer will be available for purchase from Mortimer’s Old March School Cellar Door, with tunes on tap from Robbie Mortimer at 1pm.
Give a gold coin to the firies on the way in and you’re good to go.
5) Challenge your mates to a spot of croquet
Green grass, leisurely sports and wine. Need more incentive?
You can also pack your own picnic.
Head to Patina Wines on Saturday or Sunday between 11-5pm on both weekends of Orange Wine Festival for some games in the garden and a vino or two.
Oh, and it’s free.
