Chair of the wine show committee Justin Byrne said this year the classes with increased entries were Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Cabernet and Rose.
He said while the show is only open to wines containing 85 per cent or more of fruit grown from the region, there were almost 50 more wines entered this year.
Chief Steward William Rikard-Bell said in the three years he’s been in the logistical role the show has evolved to include a judging panel from a broader range of backgrounds, making scoring more reflective of real-life experiences with wine.
“A broad range of talents mean a wide range of wine is celebrated, which is ultimately better for the region,” Mr Rikard-Bell said.
