A 75-year-old woman driver was taken to Orange hospital by ambulance after she hit two parked cars in Orange on Thursday afternoon. A NSW Ambulance spokesman said they received a call at 2.05pm that the driver was “possibly trapped.”

“I was nearby when this accident occurred and it’s a credit to the people nearby and especially the emergency services people who arrived on thew scene so quickly. Well done to all involved” – Emily Major

A vicious attack on a pregnant woman at her workplace resulted in a 26-year-old woman being sent to jail on Wednesday. Magistrate David Day sentenced Aimee Lea Sheehan, of Moresby Street, to seven months jail with three months to be served without parole for the assault.

The discovery of illegal mountain bike trails on Mount Canoblas, which are also being used by trail bikes, has sparked an investigation by the National Parks and Wildlife Service. A group of Orange bushwalkers discovered the paths in the mountain’s State Conservation Area  on Tuesday.

“So a narrow-minded assumption that the trail was made by mountain bikers gets bad publicity at a time when a proposal for a mountain bike park is currently open to discussion. Assuming mountain bikers use the trails doesn’t mean they made the trail” – Andrew Lynch

Orange residents received the highest number of penalty notices for parking offences in the entire Central West region in 2017-18. The data from the NSW government said Orange City Council issued 6128 penalty notices valued at $793,050 for parking offences in 2017-18.

“This may be a sign to council that they need to lift the parking times to give shoppers more time. The big car parks to three hours instead of two and you might find less business closing and more opening as people would have more time to support them. And instead of them paying a parking fine they could spend that money in the CBD” – Teagan Mooney

Bob Jane T-Marts has confirmed its Orange store has closed and staff have been offered jobs in Bathurst. Following an earlier Central Western Daily story the company released a statement saying the store’s lease had expired.

“As a small business owner I have long ago became aware of supply-demand-customer service. I not only put my heart on the line, I put my ability to feed my family there too. So I break a little when corporate franchises cut all the way back - or close down” – Toni Huggett
