Orange’s Emily Pritchard was announced as the winner of Excellence in Nursing – Enrolled Nurse at this year’s NSW Health Excellence in Nursing and Midwifery Awards held at Parliament House on Friday.

Acting Executive Director Nursing and Midwifery Clint Grose congratulated Emily and said she was awarded the title for her continued commitment to improving patient care in NSW.
“Emily is an integral part of the Turon House women’s mental health rehabilitation program in Bloomfield Hospital in Orange,” she said.
“She is the leader of the Productive Mental Health Ward Program which has won two State awards.
“By implementing improved processes, Emily has been able to spend more time with patients and she has played a pivotal role in reducing aggression and boosting morale amongst clients and staff at Turon House”.

Almost half of the 35 finalists came from regional and rural NSW.
NSW Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer Jacqui Cross said the awards recognise nurses and midwives who have demonstrated excellence and commitment to improving patient care.
“The awards celebrate the difference that individuals can make to the experience of care for patients, families and the communities in which we work,” she said.
Parliamentary Secretary for Western NSW, Rick Colless MLC, also congratulated Ms Pritchard.
“For Emily to win this award really shows the quality of nurses in Orange and Western NSW, and reinforces the standard of health care available out here,” Mr Colless said.
