Warren’s Paige Campbell stormed home to be the first female across the line in Sunday’s Bathurst Edgell Jog, finishing a tick under two minutes ahead of her nearest competitor.

Campbell was competing in only her second Edgell Jog, she last fronted in 2015.
This year she came back in better conditions and came first ahead of Sylvania duo Belinda Martin and Imogen Stewart in second and third, respectively.
“It was good, I just tried to go out relaxed and worked my way up the hill and then came down nice and fast,” she said.
“I didn’t come last year, but did the year before that when it was rainy.
“It couldn’t be any more different, [Sunday] being beautiful. It was perfect for running, with no wind as well.”
Many Bathurst residents spent the morning sitting out the front of their homes, on armchairs or on the veranda, cheering on the runners.
That was something Campbell really appreciated.
“There was so many people out the front of their houses cheering the runners on. That was really great to see,” she said.
As for many runners, Esrom Street proved to be the most challenging part of the race.
Last year’s first female across the line – Emily Watts – finished this year’s in fourth in the women’s category.
She drastically improved her time, finishing with a time of 30.07, compared to 31.58 in 2017.
