That’s when the ginger army will stand up and be counted here in Orange.
Hundreds of redheads will be heading to Wade Park for Orange’s second annual Redhead Hunt4HD festival.
Their goal is not quite world domination, instead they will be trying to break the world record of having 1672 redheads in one place.
Last year our first attempt achieved 769 but organiser Rachael Brooking said she expected even more this year.
“I know that Orange has a sea of redheads but we are also encouraging them from Bathurst, Dubbo and surrounding towns to come across for the day and help break the world record,” she said.
“It was a lovely family day last year.”
This year’s highlights include appearances by X-Factor TV show stars Brentwood, tours of Orange wineries aboard a big red double decker bus, an expanded children’s entertainment area including four jumping castles, plus market stalls, auctions and music by band Pengopuss.
The bus tours on Saturday and Sunday cost $69 and include a hamper lunch and a red-themed quiz with tickets still available.
This year’s host will be Canberra breakfast radio show host Kristen Henry.
“She’s a gorgeous, fiery redhead,” Mrs Brooking said.
The event is on from 10am-4pm with a gold coin donation entry per person and $5 admission to the children’s area.
The redhead count is at 2pm and redheads are asked to wear a white top.
