Unveiled on Thursday, two Connex Vital Signs Monitorswill provide accurate measurements of temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation levels, while two AIRVO 2 Humidifiers will provide non-invasive respiratory help for children.
Both Orange IGA stores, along with their charity Let’s Make Better, donated the $15,650 for the four machines, and emergency department nursing unit manager Mim Eaton said it was “fantastic” to have the new equipment.
“It’s something we’ve needed for a very long time,” she said.

She said the mobile machines, which are mainly for children, would allow them to “keep children locally” when they might have otherwise needed transfer to Sydney.
“It’s absolutely state of the art, the equipment we use here is the same quality as the equipment used in city centres,” she said.
“We try very hard to have the best possibly equipment available… it’s life changing for us, it will make a big difference, our staff can spend more quality time with a patient and it means we don’t have to share amongst our ‘sickest’ patient.
“Children won’t have a mask over their face, they’re not feeling claustrophobic, they can still sit with mum and dad and kiss them and eat and drink and it makes it much easier for them.”
Store owner of Ashcroft’s IGA Rochelle Ashcroft said a trip to Melbourne gave her the chance to see “first hand” the benefits of donated equipment and decided to make a difference to Orange.
The money was raised through in-store donations, dress up days and sausage sizzles.
