A Queensland truck driver charged over the deaths of a young couple in a seven-vehicle crash near Dubbo was excused from attending court on Wednesday as the parties await a complete brief of evidence.

Robert Crockford, 50, is facing 20 charges over the fatal pile-up at roadworks on the Newell Highway in January.
Gulargambone’s Hannah Ferguson, 19, and her 21-year-old boyfriend Reagen Skinner were killed and 10 others including a two-year-old girl were injured in the crash.
The case was mentioned in Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday for the first time since Mr Crockford was granted bail in the Supreme Court of NSW in August.
The Crown told magistrate Paul Hayes it was still waiting on more brief items including a further statement by an expert and by the police officer in charge.
The Crown applied for an adjournment until October, saying it was hoped the brief would be complete by that time.
Mr Hayes made a balance of brief order and adjourned the matter until October 24.
Mr Crockford was originally charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasioning death, three counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and a number of related charges.
Additional charges were laid in April taking the total number of charges to 17.
Charges of driver not wear seatbelt properly adjusted and two counts of cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of a motor vehicle have been laid since then.
